Effect of surround on measured Colour

摘要

This study is aimed at analysing the variation in colour with a change in surround colour and surround size. Samples were prepared by taking various foreground colours on different surrounds; surrounds varying in the extent (size) and the colour. The cie l*a*b* colour coordinates for these samples were measured using a dataflash 100 colour measurement spectrophotometer. The results have been used to obtain a functional form for the colour contrast. Existing results involving the l* [1] coordinate are augmented by another (independent) factor depending on the values of the a* and b* coordinates of the foreground and surround.
