TN spinning mills from Cosco to source cotton from Gujarat

Over 50 Tamil Nadu-based spinning mills have come together to form Cotton Sourc-ing Company Limited (Cosco) that would buy their requirement directly from producers in Gujarat, a director of the company said recently in Ahmedabad. While Gujarat is the highest producer of cotton accounting for about 45 percent of country's production, Tamil Nadu is the biggest consumer of cotton accounting for over 40 percent of the consumption and the new company is expected to benefit both producers and spinners, he said.
