Technical textiles industry's market size which was to the order of Rs. 75,925 crores in 2012-13 is expected to touch the level of Rs. 1.58 lakh crores in 2016-17 displaying a growth rate of 20 percent, stated Textile Commissioner Dr. Kavita Gupta said in Mumbai recently. However, the segment's potential remains largely untapped in India, "The government is taking growth of technical textiles on priority basis. The industry is expected to grow at 20 percent to Rs. 1,58,000 crore in FY17. Growing industrialisation, increasing access to medical care and huge infrastructure spending is expected to drive growth," she said.
