Manufacturing and characterization of linen based needle punched nonwoven fabric for technical application

摘要

In this research work an attempt has been made to develop the nonwoven fabric from 100% linen fiber for the technical application. In this development the linen based nonwoven fabric were manufactured by needle punching mechanism. The fabrics were produced with three different GSM as 100, 150, 250 and each has been scoured & bleached. By testing the all physical properties of developed fabrics it was found that these fabrics will used as baby blanket product. On the basis of this, 250 gsm fabric was quilted and tested the essential properties like thermal insulation value for baby blanket application. From the study it was found that 250 gsm quilted grey linen needle punched fabric was having the efficacy in the baby blanket application.
