Twist direction: An important factor affecting the Wrinkle free appearance of 100% cotton fabrics made from ply yarns

Even if various fabric structural parameters are responsible for determining the important fabric parameters, there are certain yarn parameters also have dominant effect on the fabric quality. This work deals with the role of yarn twist direction on the fabric quality. At the point of intersection of warp and weft, the yarn twist direction plays important role in deciding the mechanical behaviour of the fabric. In this work the author tried to show the properties of fabric produced from the ply yarns arranging with four different styles of different directional twisted (i.e. 'S' and 'Z') yarns. The author has in tested the appearance as well as the serviceability of a fabric. In this research the four sets of fabrics with different combination of warp and weft threads having the 'S' and 'Z' directional twists were used. The fabric samples were tested for different types of tests like crease recovery, bending length, strength, air permeability, abrasion resistance etc.
