A TRAINED scientist agrees that the colorants on the earth have a role beyond aesthetics to play. The process of coloration and the process of making artificial colorants or extracting natural colorants have a definite materialistic purpose that we make the things appeal to human perception so that they start liking to use them in their real life. However the colorants have a very subtle but a decisive role on this mother earth. The fact that they interact with the electromagnetic radiation (all the forms of energy can be considered to be a form of electromagnetic radiation) makes it abundantly clear that the colors on the earth ought to play a definite role in the existence and evolution of the world. They mediate the light energy available to this mother earth in a highly sophisticated way so that the various organs of the live earth to coexist. The photosynthesis occurring in the deep sea with a feeble intensity of light and the natural pigments will unfold this fact. It can transmit any impulse into the useful one and evolve a transduction connectivity or sensing and what not. This kind of understanding has opened a new avenue for quite some time and the field is in a way exploding at the research level. Colorants can catalyse the processes. Convert the energy into electrical impulses, tactical impulses, and many more. How do we recognize which kind of molecules have what kind of functions? It may look complicated, but is not so complicated at least to understand. We need to turn to our nature and observe. In this short article we shall discuss a few functional aspects of colorants.
