Comparison of Event-Related Potentials Between Conceptually Similar Chinese Words, English Words, and Pictures

摘要

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of conceptual similarity between target and non-target stimuli on the P300 component of event-related potentials using a multi-stimulus oddball paradigm. The stimuli were pictures of three objects and their corresponding Chinese and English words. The pictures and their corresponding Chinese and English words were considered to the target stimulus, respectively. The experiments elucidate that imagery and verbal information are processed by distinct but interconnected systems.
