Consumers everywhere are buying up paper by the armload. And why not? Paper is one of the most versatile products on the market. It can be cut, punched, rolled, embossed, crimped, stamped and stitched on. It's inexpensive for consumers to purchase and profitable for retailers to sell. A May 2000 HIA press release stated that "The dominant product categories for a single store and retailers with two to five stores were art materials/ scrapbook/framing."
