Three old men died recently, and we are the lesser for it. Two of them you know: Wally Raley, the founder of Delta; and Cliff Zimmerman, who founded Zim's with his wife, Eleanor. The third is William Maxwell, a novelist and the fiction editor at The New Yorker magazine for 40 years.
