Michaels Stores participation in National Craft Month (NCM) in March set a high standard for other industry retailers. The chain responded enthusiastically to the marketing strategy set by the Hobby Industry Association (HIA) which intends to stimulate retail with three events in 2001 (March, June, September). Each event ties a different theme to the branding slogan, "Crafts. Discover life's little pleasures". The March event focused on family crafting.
