Stan Brown distributes art materials products and books used by everyone from tole and decorative painters to fine artists. He admits that his customer base has shrunk from a high several years ago, but maintains that, "The independent retailer is extremely important to jny business and to the creative industry. That's where all the teaching is and where all the fads are started. Independents are really the backbone of everything."
