Venture past the boundaries of the textiles, sewing and needlecraft area when visiting the HIA Show this year. You may find some exciting new ideas in the last place you would look - the scrapbooking and stationery section. HIA Show organizers segment the show floor to help retailers quickly identify vendors with related products, but they are quick to point out that buyers should walk the entire show to get a full scope of available products and trends. When you are out of your comfort zone you will discover some paper crafting products that equally will engage sewers. These products may have their genesis in the scrapbooking industry, but they are not limited to photo or memory crafting. Scrapbookers are turning to the textile industry for inspiration and design elements to incorporate into pages and filling in market gaps with ribbons, fabric scraps, trims, stitching, buttons and other findings. It's your job to discover the crossover.
