Have you seen Wal-Mart's television ads that promote their scrapbook-ing aisle and their photography department? They are good ads, run in prime time and are sure to involve some new people in both scrapping and photography. The ads undoubtedly will drive some people to purchase cameras at Wal-Mart. But a percentage of those Wal-Mart shoppers will struggle with all the gadgets on their new camera, the digital discoveries and the printing of photos. Some may even love their new camera and hobby so much that they will seek out a class or two on photography. Some will be dissatisfied with their purchase and return the camera. Wal-Mart accepts returns on just about anything. Then these customers may decide to shop at a Main Street camera shop where they will get better advice ... on everything.
