Quilters are knitting. Cross stitchers are creating samplers by machine. Sewers are scrapbooking. No, it's not a world gone mad. It's the state of the industry. I've written about my aunt the avid quilter. Last Christmas she sent a darling flannel quilt for my son and a little package for me, a yummy thick and squishy scarf knitted in velvety eyelash yarn. Attached to the scarf was a note that said, "I hope you like this scarf. All of the flight attendants are knitting now; it really reduces stress. I bought this yarn in Germany, but now I am seeing such great yarns in stores here." Now Judy isn't about to give up her quilting. She was simply looking for something to while away the hours on the layovers. She is quilting and knitting.
