When a craft category is hot, everyone jumps on the bandwagon. The current pervasive interest in knitting and crochet is no exception. Now quilt designers, accustomed to working with fabrics and sewing machines are picking up knitting needles and crochet hooks. They are experimenting with fabric strips to create knitted and crocheted crafts or sewn projects that simulate knit or crochet. With literally thousands of fabrics to choose from, knit and crochet enthusiasts (and lovers of fabric) can find tremendous inspiration in a store that highlights this technique. Coordinated fabric collections make it easy for crafters to incorporate subtle color and pattern contrast into their projects. Each print will translate into a different type of color pattern as most prints 'disappear' when deconstructed into fabric strips and stitched. This creates an opportunity for retailers to give slow moving fabrics a new life just by showing them in a stitched sample.
