Move over cotton. Wool crafting is becoming a solid category in the quilt shop thanks to designers who are experimenting with fabrics created from this extremely versatile fiber. As recently as five years ago, most quilt shops had very little if any 100 percent wool products in their shops. Today most full-line quilt shops carry wool products with offerings ranging from wool felt, running yardage of flannels, hand-dyed pieces or roving/loose fiber or wool strips for rug hooking. "Wool continues to be a popular medium due to its variety of forms, textures and colors, plus it is easy to work with," observes Debbie Busby of Wooden Spool Designs. New resources for wool products are supporting this trend.
