Sterigenics to be sold to US private equity firm

European private equity firm Silverfleet Capital has agreed to sell Sterigenics International, a supplier of contract sterilisation and ionisation services to the medical device industry, to US private equity firm GTCR for US$675m. The deal is expected to close by the second quarter of 2011. David Meyer, ceo of Sterigenics, said GTCR is known for its expertise in healthcare, financial services and information services and technology. 'Most importantly, they are aligned with our strategy of expanding and improving our geographic and technology network to meet supply chain requirements,' he added.
