New committee starts working towards safer biocidal products

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) has established a new scientific committee to contribute to the availability of safe biocidal products in European markets. The Biocidal Products Committee will play an important role in the approval of active substances and the authorisation of biocidal products under the Biocidal Products Regulation, which will come into force from 1 September. The Committee held its first meeting on 26-27 March in preparation for the new regulation. It has started to look at the working methods, procedures and priorities for future work.
