Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been around in the medical environment for many years and is an easy way to track, locate and update the service and sterilisation history of many differing pieces of equipment. Harting of Northampton, UK, produces a range of rugged transponders that fit well into the medical environment. These include transponders that meet medical approvals, being designed to comply with the requirements of ISO 10993 for evaluation of the biocompatibility of medical devices.
