Walter P. Moore Jr., former president and board chairman of the Houston consulting firm that bears his family's name, died on June 21 from injuries suffered in an April 4 automobile accident, from which he never regained consciousness. Moore, who was elected an Honorary Member of asce in 1997, was 61 years old. According to Ray Messer, president of Walter P. Moore and Associates, Houston (and a friend and business associate of Moore's for 17 years): "It's a tragedy for his family, his friends and our firm. We have lost a truly great technical proficient."
