Young engineers get a chance to network at the YGEC in Durban

As a final year student at the University of Pretoria I had the privilege last year to write a paper for the 5th South African Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (YGEC). The conference took place at the Camelot Conference Centre in Hillcrest, Durban, from 20 to 22 August 2008.rnThe YGEC was a great opportunity for young and upcoming geotechnical engineers in South Africa to become part of the geotechnical network, to become familiar with best practice and to meet other people working in the field of geotechnical engineering. It also gave me the opportunity to publish a paper and to improve my presentation skills. The idea was that everyone who attended would write a paper and present it themselves.
