The bridge was constructed on budget and completed in time for the start of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. An important factor in meeting the deadline was the involve-rnment of members of the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction, who were invited by the professional team to provide the contractor with independent expertise in programming and resourcing.
