The opinion article by Robert Blyth in the October 2011 edition of Civil Engineering highlighted a very important issue related to the future of our industry and profession. Opening up this issue further, however, reveals that the subject matter of his article is a small piece of a much bigger international problem - a problem that our industry must make greater efforts to understand and address.
