Restoring PATH

The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, that destroyed the World Trade Center had significant economic consequences. Nearly 30 million sq ft (27.87 million m~2) of commercial office space―30 percent of the total market in lower Manhattan―was damaged or destroyed. In addition to the horrific loss of life and property, the collapse of the World Trade Center towers destroyed the Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) train station that occupied the lower levels of the site, severely disrupting the regional transportation network.
