Hoover Dam Bypass Project Gets Under Way

After more than a decade of planning, a new crossing of the Colorado River near Hoover Dam is becoming a reality. Although construction of the spectacular open-spandrel deck arch bridge is not scheduled to begin until the end of 2003, contractors have been working on the Arizona approach roadways for several months, and road construction on the Nevada side is set to begin this summer.
