It also involves, in part, thoughtful consideration of issues affecting the health and safety of the public and our quality of life. For example, ASCE has long advocated addressing the nation's significant infrastructure deficiencies not only for reasons of safety and health but also to ensure American economic well-being and global competitiveness.
