Named the chief executive officer of Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) while still in her twenties, Avery L. Bang, A.M.ASCE is an inspirational civil engineering leader. In an interview for ASCE's "Insights" podcast series, Avery shares the "eureka" moment she had while serving in a third-world country that showed her the impact that one en- gineer, or team of engineers, can have in helping people around the world. Bang started as a volunteer for B2P in 2006 and since then has developed a team that partners with and trains residents of isolated communities around the world to build pedestrian bridges that provide safe year-round access to education, health care, and markets.
