This follows a steady trend taking place over the past several years. Base salaries have risen 4-6 percent per year since 2016, according to previous ASCE salary surveys. For its 2019 results, ASCE analyzed data from 3,949 respondents to its online survey, revealing that the total median salary for a civil engineer was $109,000 in 2018, and the median base salary (excluding bonuses, overtime, and the like) was $105,900.
