Oil, the Big Unknown

Let me start with the obligatory "I used to trudge through miles of snow to get to school" statement. Like some of you, I remember gas at under a quarter a gallon. When I was a salesman who relied on my car, I had to sit in long gas lines in the 1970s. That was the time we saw gas go to over fifty cents a gallon (gasp!). Everywhere you turned there were dire predictions of the U.S. running out of oil in thirty to forty years (let's see, that would be about now).
