MUltiyear forecasts are always a challenge. Regular economic and electronic industry business cycles are often disrupted. Unexpected events (hurricanes, political unrest, currency fluctuations and oil supply interruptions) all play havoc with our crystal ball. Electronic Outlook Corp. (Ed Henderson and Ralph Anavy) just updated its assessment of world electronic equipment production. Chart 1 is a "35,000 ft." summary but EOC's report details this data by country by product group for 2001 to 2009. The world figures are consolidated at "constant 2004 exchange" so that the global growth rates are independent of year-to-year exchange rate fluctuations.
