BPA's Call: China 2006 Growth Picks Up, But Slows Later This Year

The figures for China shown here must be set against a background of dramatic increases in activity over the last few years. All of the ups and downs of the Chinese industry are set well above the "no growth" line, but last year did see some growth figures way below the amazing levels of the previous two years. Leading indicators show that the growth surge may well be short lived with a slow down in growth rates for 2007 and beyond. As Figure 1 shows, computers lead the acceleration in growth in China but even they are demonstrating some slowing.
