Portable MSP430 DMM

Participating in a Circuit Cellar competition like the MSP430 design contest allows you to try out the latest and greatest devices and their supporting development environments. This has been the case for all of the contests that I've entered (i.e., Z183, FPSLIC, and MSP430), and the Gadget-o-Rama contest was no exception. By using new devices and tools that you wouldn't normally use at work, you become more flexible and aware of what's available on the market. By the end of the project, you've learned enough about the device and toolset to know if you'd ever consider it for your future endeavors. This comes in handy if you're the lucky one who gets to pick the microcontroller for your next project! If you work on embedded systems for a living, you can never have enough in your bag of tricks, that's for sure.
