Digital Cinema Audio

Not much has been written about the audio portion of the Digital Cinema presentation. Much of the interest and emphasis has been on the picture portion. This article is intended to bring you up to date on what is happening in digital cinema sound since the last time this topic was discussed in various publications. I encourage you to find the September 2000 issue of Film Journal International and read the excellent article written by Michael Karagosian which offers a very complete overview of progress in Digital Cinema audio at that time. The observations and discussion of basic practices covered in his article are not repeated here and should be read to supplement this piece.
