Somehow BKSTS Member Gerald Hooper's letters and conversations always seem to manage to cross the boundaries between a whole range of topics, including an inseperable mix of technology and art, and the references to VISTAVISION and SENSURROUND from the recent reports in Cinema Technology on the Bradford WideScreen Weekend led to a fascinating trail from the history of and new developments at the Plaza Cinema in Lower Regent Street, London, with accompanying contemporary photo, to a critical examination of the merits of the PERSPECTASOUND system that accompanied these VISTAVISION showings. Gerald attended the VISTAVISION showing of 'Strategic Air Command' at the Regent during the first week that it was shown, and remembers that the film was very good, pin sharp on a large screen (not Harkness, he comments!) with extremely bright images.
