You have to be a little careful when examining the history of what is the current Electric Palace cinema in Bridport, because the name was originally used as far back as 1912 by another cinema around the corner in Barrack Street - The Bridport Electric Palace. This closed in 1926, and, after a complete makeover, reopened in 1934 as the Lyric, and it continued under this name until its eventual final closure in 1962.
