The cinema industry has always been a fast-changing and competitive one. Within a few years of the first sound films appearing, the silent movies had died, and different types of sound systems came and went with astonishing rapidity; when TV threatened our industry's very livelihood the number of widescreen formats burgeoned, although only a couple really survive commercially to this day.
