The title of this book suggests that it studies early illustrated Bibles—certainlynan interesting and worthy topic, especially where it might illuminate the waynearly Christians (Jewish converts and gentiles) appropriated and interpretednJewish scriptures and traditional stories. The book is actually much broadernthan that, and thus appealing to a broader audience, but potentiallynfrustrating in its multiple focus points.
