Status Quo in Treating Colorectal Cancer with Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine

摘要

In recent years, the clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in treating malignant tumor has attracted more and more attention of oncologic societies at home and abroad. What is the superiority of TCM in treating malignant tumor? And what is the bottleneck of clinical trial of TCM? These are the major research topic to be recognized by TCM society since many years ago. The development of evidence-based medicine (EBM) provides us best methodologic tool for present study: according to the international criteria, using theory of EBM to assess objectively the efficacy and reliability of TCM in treating malignant tumor, i. e. the meta-analysis, which is possible to elucidate the status quo, superiority and existing problems of TCM in treating malignant tumor, its conclusion could help clinical physician to make the medical decision, and point out the research direction in future. The author's department is doing systematic evaluation for TCM in treating colorectal cancer (CRC) right now, a concise review on present data is presented as follows.
