Clinical Observation on 63 Cases of Infantile Common Cold with Fever Treated with Qingkailing Injection

One hundred and eighteen patients were divided randomly into two groups, 63 in the treated group and 55 in the control group. They were 78 males and 40 females, their age: < 2 years in 21, 2 ～ 5 years in 41, > 5 years in 56; course of disease: < 24 h in 43, 24～48 h in 52 and > 48 h in 23; the body temperature at first visit: 37 ～ 38℃ in 25, 38～39℃ in 62 and > 39℃ in 31. Convulsion was occurred in 2 cases, some of them complicated with vomiting and diarrhea. By physical examination, pharyngeal congestion was found in 81 cases and Ⅰ ～ Ⅱ ° swelling of tonsil in 22. White blood cell count showed > 10 x 10~9/L in 35 and < 10 x 10~9/L in 83 cases. The two groups were similar in degree of fever and clinical manifestation and so were comparable.
