Thyroid Storm Presenting as Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome

Thyroid storm is a rare disorder characterized bynhypertension, hyperthermia, and multiple systemsninvolvement. Early recognition and treatment ofnthyroid storm are essential in reducing morbiditynand mortality from this disorder. We present thencase of a patient with an atypical (normothermic,nnormotensive) presentation of thyroid storm, accom-npanied by multiple organ dysfunction syndrome,nincluding lactic acidosis and liver dysfunction, bothnof which are very rare complications. This casenhighlights both the multiple organ systems that cannbe involved in thyroid storm and the importance ofnrecognizing atypical presentations of thyroid storm.
