Val'dberg and Kirsanova discuss examples of practical implementation of the probabilistic-energy method of analyzing centrifugal dust collectors. Subsequent experimental and industrial tests have confirmed the method's rather high reliability. Karpukhovich presents results of comparative tests of two types of cyclones: TsN-15 and STsN-40. The graphical relationships presented make it possible to assess the comparability of computed values of the efficiency of dust settling, which were obtained on the basis of the probabilistic-energy method, to experimental data. The investigations were conducted on dust (quartz sand) having the following parameters: median particle size d_m = 15 μm, standard deviation of particle-size distribution log σ_p = 0.544; and, particle density ρ_p = 2600 kg/m~3. The temperature of the dust-filled air was 18℃.
