In 2012, the ACS Safety Culture Taskforce published a reportdetailing several recommendations to strengthen safetycultures in academic institutions.1 A major theme reflected inthis report is the importance of communication, buy-in,collaboration, and community-building. The emergence ofstudent-led laboratory safety has had a significant impact inmany institutions.2,3 As COVID-19 led to the acceleratednormalization of virtual meetings, an opportunity emerged tocreate a virtual space in which a group of academically,geographically, and career-diverse individuals could engagewith one another in a journal club.
