Aging Population,Health-Care Costs, And The National Debt

Deficit hawks argue that rising health-care costs combined with an aging population promise to put the government budget deficits, in the long run, under so much pressure as to make the United States into another Greece. Yet our aging population is surely a tribute to the successful advances in medical treatment that research and development by scientists have achieved over the past seven decades (research that often was funded by government grants). Should we not be celebrating our victory over the Grim Reaper rather than seeing it as a problem that we cannot overcome?
