It's time to face the facts about inequality in the United States. For too long, mainstream economists have argued that the laws of the market have determined rising inequality due to changing technology. New jobs simply require more skills. Tim Koechlin argues that it is the policy, stupid, not economics per se. The basic facts of inequality are now inescapable, the consequences very difficult. A class society is increasingly entrenched in the United States, and it is time to tell the truth.
