Conversion of a mill circulating elevator to a modern central chain system using a chain with a fracture load of 3601 as tension member

Bucket elevators are subjected to extreme requirements during industrial use. The use of modern central chain systems with long service lives, low operating cost as well as high operational reliability has been pushed ahead more and more in recent years. BBM ehrhardt GmbH, Beckum/Germany, has further promoted this development and commissioned the first central chain elevator with a high-strength 360 t chain last year. The project HZBW 1000 was started in 1999 with the first planning activities within the framework of a dissertation and ended in February 2001 with the final commissioning. The proven concept of the system used until now has now been extended by a new size unequalled so far with the conveying capacity reached in this case. After the first 4500 operating hours of this machine, the course of this project and its implementation turned out to be a special success for the Beckum-based medium-sized business.
