Visa International announced the largest hypermarket chain in Taiwan, Carrefour, would accept its contactless application, Visa pay Wave, as part of a cobranded card program involving Union Bank of Taiwan. The large France-based retailer has nearly 50 stores on the island. Taiwan is one of Visa's most active contactless markets, outside of the US. The card organization announced in September Taiwan's largest mobile network operator, Chunghwa Telecom, had launched a trial of phones that support Near Field Communication.
