Ingenico In Talks To Acquire Safran's Payment-Terminal Business

France-based point-of-sale terminal vendor Ingenico announced in late July it was negotiating to acquire the terminal business Of French high technology and defense company Safran. The acquisition, if completed as planned by the end of the year, could again make Ingenico the largest supplier of payment-card terminals in the world. It could overtake US-based VeriFone Holdings, which acquired No. 4 vendor Lipman Electronic Engineering of Israel last fall, moving VeriFone past Ingenico into the top spot.
