UK School Tests An 'Eat-Your-Spinach' Card

Want kids to eat their vegetables when they have lunch at school? You may have more luck if the school tracks what the children eat and rewards those who make healthy choices. For the past two years, a boys school in the United Kingdom, Haberdashers' Aske's Boys' School in North London, has used an existing smart card payment system to also keep tabs on what each student eats in the school cafeteria. The study involved 1,300 boys at the school and was led by the UK's Institute of Food Research.
