Runamok Maple acquires Bascom Maple Farms' candy, butter operations

Runamok Maple, a Cambridge, Vt.-based maker of all-natural, organic maple syrup, has acquired the maple candy and butter operations of Battleboro, Vt.-based Bascom Maple Farms, the largest independent supplier of pure maple syrup, maple sugar and maple candy in the country. Runamok will produce maple candy and butter on a contract basis for Bascom, as well as under Runamok's new brand, True North Maple. True North will use production facilities at the Brattle-boro Development Credit Corp.'s Cotton Mill Building in Brattleboro but will operate as a separate entity.
