Boatyard fined after fall death

Failing To Secure a gangplank and provide a handrail for access to a customer's boat has cost a boatyard £65,000, after the boat owner died as a result of falling from the plank into the dry dock. Richard Ferris was using the Youngman Board plank to cross from his boat to the dry dock side when the plank moved and he fell almost 2.5 meters to the bottom of the dock. He suffered severe head injuries and died in hospital the same day.
